Topline Engineering Ground Wire Kit Instructions
*Before installing each wire, be sure to clean off the install area. For chassis grounds, be sure to sand down the paint for optimum grounding.
*Your kit should have the following:
Two 8” wires (one for chassis to terminal and one for alternator to chassis)
Three 10” wires (one for throttle body to terminal, one for head to head, and one for chassis to intake plenum)
One 18” wire (for rear head to terminal)
One 20” wire (for transmission to terminal, manual transmission will have 27” wire)
Step 1: disconnect the negative terminal wires (if you want more room to work with, disconnect the positive terminals as well and remove the battery from the vehicle). Then disconnect the intake elbow from the throttle body and the MAS.
Step 2: remove the smaller negative terminal from the chassis (nearest the battery) and replace it with one of the 8” wires.
Step 3: remove the negative terminal from the transmission and replace it with the 20” wire. (NOTE: cars with a manual transmission use a 27” wire). Some models may vary and this mounting point may not work due to the size of the bolt. Alternatively, any place on the transmission is a good ground.
Step 4: remove the top –left 12mm bolt from the throttle body and install one of the 10” wires to the bolt. Reinstall the bolt to the throttle body (if this causes interference for turbo cars, mount in bottom-left bolt).
Step 5: remove the bolt that connects to the rear head as shown below, and place the bolt through the end of the 18” wire and the other 10” wire (WARNING: some 91-92 cars have a CAS here, so this point should not be used unless you are comfortable with adjusting timing. Alternatively, you may want to use the next nearest bolt). Reinstall the bolt.
Step 6: remove the bolt that connects to the front head (near the coolant cap) and install the other end of the 10” wire.
Step 7: remove the forward driver’s side alternator mount nut and install one end of the remaining 8” wire. Remove the nearest radiator mount bracket bolt and install the other end of the 8” wire. Reinstall the nut and bolt.
Step 8: Replace the wire that connects from the chassis to the back of the intake plenum with a 10” wire.
Step 9: Connect the remaining 4 loose ends to the negative battery terminal and start her up! Enjoy your new ground wires!
These are the instructions but with no pictures, this should help out some.
